Jeweled Triangles Table Runner
In the fall of 2024 I designed and released a new quilt block pattern. It was a bit different in that it is not square, it’s a triangular shape. Not only that, but it is for paper piecing and the individual triangles come together easily. The block pattern works perfectly with 2 1/2″ strips. Sewing a few of the triangles together gets a bit trickier because of all of the points, but I think that the results are worth it. Here’s how I made my Jeweled Triangles table runner.
The Steps

You definitely want to have a bit of paper piecing experience but you don’t need to be an expert. Start by making triangles using the template from my pattern. I used 45 of them for my runner. Each row was made up of 15 triangles.

Once the triangles were ready I pieced them together. To get them to match, I lined up the points and sewed on the printed line using a 1/4″ seam allowance. First I sewed the individual triangles together and then the rows.
This is where it got a bit tricky. The points are quite bulky. I suggest pressing the seams open to help with that problem. Pins will be your friend here so that the points line up nicely.

I didn’t remove the paper until the entire runner top was pieced. Then I gave it a good pressing. Finally I trimmed the sides so that they were straight.
Then all that was left was the quilting. I decided to quilt in the ditch so that it highlighted the triangles. To finish off my runner I used left over strips from the pack that I used. Scrap quilters are going to love this one.
You can pick up a copy of my quilt block pattern in my Etsy shop here.

My Jeweled Triangles quilt block pattern makes a great quilt or table runner. It’s ideal for a set of 2 1/2″ strips like the ones I used. These strips were from the Island Batik line called Tranquil. I received them as part of a package when I was an affiliate for the Missouri Star Quilt Company.
I hope you give my pattern a try. Happy Quilting! – Claudia
