My 2024 Quilting Year in Review

It is hard to believe that another year is coming to an end. The past 12 months have been quite a ride for me both professionally and personally. Like I do every year, I thought I’d do a quick round up of what I have done. Grab a cup of coffee and a snack and join me for my 2024 quilting year in review. If any of the projects catch your eye, don’t worry, there are links to all of them when you click on the photo.

January

It was all about scraps for me in January of 2025. I did a fun and easy wonky friendship star quilt block. It is a fantastic scrap buster and makes a great quilt. You’ll find the block pattern and the quilt pattern too.

February

This month was exciting for me. I got to visit QuiltCon for the first time. What fun, and the quilts were amazing! I was honored to have my quilt “Lattice Workings” displayed in the Hobbs Batting Booth.

An added bonus was that it was in Raleigh, NC and that is where I attended college. I got to visit the campus and see all of the places I used to frequent.

March

In March I designed a modern quilt block called Ice Cubes. It was a bit different for me but I had fun and I love the way it turned out. My version was done in batiks and has an interesting 3D look to it.

April

April was a bit busier for me and I wrote 2 blog posts. First up was a list of tips for reading quilt patterns. The article contains helpful information for anyone reading a pattern.

I also did another one of my quick and easy quilt block videos. The Flutter block is a fun one with plenty of movement in it.

June

This was a exciting month for me. June marked the debut of my very first signature fabric line with Island Batik. It’s called Prisms and the fabrics are bright and beautiful.

I was so proud to present the 4 quilts I designed for these fabrics. Each one has a different look and shows off the fabrics in a different way. All of them are available in both a PDF (digital) and paper version in my Etsy shop.

July

Are you a fan of fussy cutting? If so then July was the month for you. Hot on the heals of another tutorial on the method, I wrote another one with 6 blocks that are ideal for it. Which on is your favorite?

I also showed readers how to bind a quilt with the quilt backing. It’s a quick and easy way to finish up projects.

July was busy because I still wasn’t finished. There was another quick and easy quilt block I call Circus and a wonderful Christmas Mini Quilt. It was a very productive month.

August

August brought some excitement to my business. I was the chosen to be Cotton Cuts Designer of the Month. Not only that but I made two different videos, one for a fun and funky quilt block and the other for a reversible tote block made with 10″ precuts.

September

I love a good mystery and I love precuts so in September I worked with a little bit of both. I had a really fun time doing an unboxing video of a Missouri Star Quilt Company End of Bolt box. Wow! the fabrics I got were incredible. I also did a video on 9 ideas for working with Jelly Rolls. This video has quickly risen to one of my top 15 most viewed videos.

October

I wound up my 2024 in October with one more post and a blog hop to debut my second signature fabric line with Island Batik, Twilight. This line is filled with golds and blues that shine. I absolutely love these fabrics and the four quilts I designed for them.

My husband and I took these quilts on a field trip to get these photos. All four of these patterns are available in my Etsy shop.

After this photo shoot it was all about taking time for me. I had a knee replacement near the end of October and have been taking lots of time healing. As of this writing I am getting better every day and starting to work on lots of new projects.

I hope you have enjoyed this recap of my 2024 quilting year in review. I can’t wait to bring you new projects in 2025!

Happy Quilting! – Claudia

I really enjoyed your post. I do not always get to read your posts each month so it was fun checking out the ones I missed, especially the one on the mystery end of bolt form Missouri Quilt Co. I love shopping there and was wondering if the end of bolt mystery would be worth the money and it sure looks like it is. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
