Unboxing Charm Squares

Can you guess what I got in the mail a couple of months ago? Well, if you check out this video of me unboxing charm squares you will see.

The Backstory

A couple of months ago I subscribed to a quilt magazine. Along with the fact that the magazine looked gorgeous, the allure was that a special offer of fabric was included. That clinched it and I subscribed. After a brief wait, I got a package containing all of the goodies. How exciting!

The Fabrics

The charm pack I got was from Hoffman fabrics, and wow, are they awesome. I just need to figure what I want to do with them.

The pack was made up of fabrics from three different collections, Paint Impressions, Dragonfly Dream, and LUXE.

As you can see in the video, while I can’t pick a favorite, some of the charms that really popped for me were the Pink Silver and Magenta Gold from the LUXE collection. In addition to those two, the Crocus, Caterpillar, Cobalt and Zinnia from the Paint Impressions collection were other standouts.

One of the things I really liked about the LUXE charms was that there were so many color options, and all of them had little touches of bling in silver or gold. I can see them being wonderful companion fabrics to all sorts of projects.

The Unboxing Charm Squares Video

This was my first unboxing video, so I’ll admit I was a bit nervous to do it. I’ve seen a number of them on YouTube and they looked like fun to make, so I thought this would be the ideal one to start with.

I felt like a kid in a candy store when I opened up the package. Not only was the magazine lovely, the fabric was a hit.

I’m glad I made the video of unboxing Hoffman charm squares, even though there are some glitches in it and I had to do a fair amount of editing. As a result, I’ve been inspired to do some more like it, so stay tuned!

I “inherited” several blocks very identical to the orange one you show on the “17 mistakes quilters make” video. URGENT:
I must make more– only have 10. Can you direct me to the pattern or tutorial? Thanks.

Hi – You can find that block pattern on the Patterns by Jen website. It was part of a quilt along that I am participating in this year. Look for Patterns by Jen 2019 Monthly Color Challenge.
